Personalized Strategy for Improvement
Contrary to popular belief a church cannot simply be fixed. The church has to move towards health and effectiveness my a steady pace of improvement. Many ministries fail because the leadership is looking for immediate change rather than gradual growth from effective discipline. The Onyx Group will help each ministry we encounter develop a personalized strategy that will work for their unique situation.
Leadership Training
The leadership of the ministry must be trained to execute the new strategy. This training must be done from the top down and not the bottom up. Many times churches are not improving because the leadership is looking for change in the pews when their has been none or very little in the pulpit. The church must be trained to move as a community and or a family. This can only be done effectively if everyone in the house or community invests in the same system of operating.
Program and Plan Implementation
We move now to putting forth everything that has been developed and trained for. It is of the utmost importance to rollout ministerial changes sequentially so that the congregation does not get overwhelmed. The idea is not to convince the entire church at once, but to convince the leaders and then allow them to convert the rest of the congregation one opportunity at a time.
All church consults will run through this process. The distinction is the process itself will be tailored to each specific ministry.
The Onyx Group will be prepared to do the initial evaluation in a weekend. We will give our findings and recommendations that will be inclusive of the time table we expect to have in accomplishing the goals of the ministry. The timetable can be as brief as a weekend workshop or as extensive as a 3-6 month transition.
The Onyx Group will stay with the ministry or church throughout the entire transition and stay with the ministry for up to a year in follow-up and troubleshooting.
It is also the policy of The Onyx Group to make sure that all churches soliciting our help will receive it. Therefore, we will develop a sliding fee scale so that every church and ministry has the chance to experience excellence.

Statement of Purpose
The Onyx Church Consulting Group exist for the sole purpose of helping ministers, ministries, churches and Christian leaders in reaching their fullest potential in Kingdom building as it is described throughout the scriptures which is The Holy Bible. We purpose to accomplish this through assisting various types of churches and ministries develop their abilities and commitments in every area of ministry.
Demographic
The population The Onyx Group look to service is the inner city and or urban ministries of 200 members or less. We target this group as our primary demographic for two reasons. The first being this is the demographic that the majority of churches fall into in America. Secondly, this demographic suffers with the inability to transition from post modernity to the 21st century.
It is our desire to help them transition holistically into a place of relevance and effectiveness in the 21st century.
It has been documented that 4000 Christian Churches close their doors forever every year in America. Further documentation has shown that in the year 2012-2013 almost triple that number of Christian churches closed.
The reason for this is a drastic plummet in church attendance, which translates to a drastic plummet in church funds. When polled as to why the people who have stopped attending church regularly did so, they answered that the church was no longer relevant to their lives.
It is the commission of The Onyx Group to assist the ministries suffering from this reality into becoming both relevant and viable while remaining true to their theological commitment to scripture. We will accomplish this by doing the following...
Ministry Evaluation
Each ministry The Onyx Group is approached by must have a thorough evaluation. This evaluation will cover the areas of Worship, Stewardship, Scholarship and Friendship. These are the foundational parts of any church and or ministry. In this evaluation The Onyx group will identify both strengths and weaknesses. We will build on strengths and eradicate weaknesses in each area.
